NT Subclass 190 Nomination
The Subclass 190 visa provides permanent residency and awards an additional 5 points toward your SkillSelect score.
Eligibility: The Subclass 190 visa is generally restricted to applicants already living and working in the NT, such as NT graduates or long-term residents. Offshore applicants are typically only considered for the Subclass 491 visa under standard streams.
Commitment: A core requirement for NT nomination is demonstrating a genuine commitment to the territory. If granted the visa, you must commit to living and working in the NT in your skilled occupation for at least 3 years.
NT Subclass 491 Nomination
The Subclass 491 visa is a provisional regional visa that provides an additional 15 points at invitation. Since the entire NT is classified as a regional area, applicants can live and work anywhere in the territory, including Darwin. Compare visa types in our 189 vs 190 vs 491 guide.
Offshore Applicants: Applicants residing outside of Australia may be eligible for the 491 visa if their nominated occupation is on the Northern Territory Offshore Migration Occupations List (NTOMSOL) and they meet specific NT work experience criteria.
